Max J. Holzbaur is a Partner at The Fogel Law Group (FLG), a law firm with offices located in Boca Raton, Jacksonville, and Orlando, Florida. Working out of the Firm’s Boca Raton office, Max has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2012 and joined FLG in 2015, where he developed extensive experience in the fields of commercial lending, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, leasing, real property law (both commercial and residential), and title insurance.
Max is a nationally recognized expert in closing government-guaranteed financing. Over the course of his career, Max has closed thousands of United States Small Business Administration 7(a), 504, Express, CAPLine, International Trade, and Export Working Capital loans, as well as USDA and conventional loans, on a nationwide basis. Max is Certified SBA 504 Loan Closing Counsel, and FLG represents multiple Certified Development Companies with their 504 Projects in many states. Max is frequently a speaker and panelist on many local and national real estate, SBA and conventional lending, and business transaction forums. Max and FLG are also active in the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL), the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO), and the Florida Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (FLAGGL). He routinely holds virtual and in-person trainings for SBA Lenders across the United States.
Originally from Coral Springs, Max grew up primarily in Fort Lauderdale and Sarasota, Florida. He earned both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees, cum laude honors, from Stetson University. Triple majoring in finance, international business, and political science, Max studied in Washington, D.C., China, Spain, and Austria. A full-merit scholarship recipient in both undergraduate and law school, he received his Juris Doctor, cum laude honors, in 2013 from Stetson University College of Law. In law school, he was recognized as Best Oralist in the Carlton Fields First-Year Appellate Advocacy Competition, and, as a member of the Moot Court Board, was a finalist in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in Vienna. Upon graduation, he was presented with the National Order of Scribes Award for excellence in legal writing and professionalism, and he began his career in London at the Chambers of Arthur Marriott QC specializing in international commercial dispute resolution. Max is multilingual, speaking both English and German, and he holds dual citizenship with Austria. He is a passionate soccer fan, and an avid supporter of Chelsea Football Club.
