President, Founder

Mitchell C. Fogel is the Principal and Founder of The Fogel Law Group in Boca Raton, FL.  He has been a licensed attorney in Florida since 1987, and formed his own law firm in 1991.  Through his multiple practice areas, Mitch has developed expertise representing buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, lenders and borrowers, among many varied clients.  Because of his extensive and diverse experience, Mitch’s clients seek and rely on his legal counsel regarding their commercial and residential real estate deals; title insurance matters; lending and banking transactions; leasing deals; hotel, resturant and hospitality transactions; and business and corporate opportunities and affairs.

Mitch has developed an excellent reputation nationwide for his knowledge and expertise regarding United States Small Business Administration (SBA) loan transactions.  A Certified and Expedited SBA 504 Loan Closing Counsel, he and FLG have closed 1,000’s of 7(a) and 504 SBA loans, USDA loans, as well as many other government guaranteed loans, throughout Florida for many lenders.  He also handles modifications, workouts and liquidations of SBA loans and other financing.

As a small business owner and attorney, Mitch is very committed to the ideas and principles of the SBA and its programs.  He is an active member of The National Association of Government Guaran­teed Lenders (NAGGL), The National Association of Development Companies (NADCO), and the Florida Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (FLAGGL). In addition, Mitch founded and annually produces and hosts the South Florida Small Business Lending Forum in Boca Raton, Florida.

A graduate of the University of Florida (B.S.B.A. in Finance, 1983, Highest Honors; Gold Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies) and George Washington University, National Law Center (J.D., 1987; Phi Alpha Delta), he is also an instructor with various colleges and organizations and teaches courses in SBA Lending; Liquidation of SBA Loans;  Real Estate Closings; Mortgage and Finance Law; and The Law of Business Organizations.  Mitch is frequently a panelist on many real estate, lend­ing (SBA and other financing ), and business transaction forums and webinars, and is a featured speaker on webinars and programs for several firms, including Coleman Publishing , the largest Small Business Lending publishing company.

Having a great passion for soccer as a longtime player and fan, he has been a Coach and Division Representative in the Soccer Association of Boca Raton (SABR) and is presently a Certified Soccer Referee with the Florida State Soccer Association.  Mitch is a proud Member of the Board of the Boca Raton Airport Authority and is currently  the Chairman.  Mitch resides with his wife and family in Boca Raton, where he enjoys golf, tennis, swimming, bicycling, and supporting the Florida Gators, UVA Cavaliers, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat.

Ellen Schechter joined the Firm in January 2006 following ten years as a sole practitioner in Boca Raton, Florida. Ellen concentrated her practice on residential real estate matters, title insurance, corporate law and business transactions, including entity formation. Prior to forming her own firm, Ellen established the legal department and served as Director of Legal Affairs for a national long distance telecommunications company.

Ellen was born and raised in New York and is a graduate of Cornell University (A.B., 1978) and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (J.D., 1986). She is admitted to practice law in New York  and Florida.

Ellen currently practices in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, including title insurance, real estate acquisitions and sales, lending, and Small Business Administration 7(a) and 504 financing. Her practice also includes corporate and business law and commercial and residential leasing.

Ellen is a member of the Florida Bar Association (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section) and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson. She is also an avid golfer and resides in Boca Raton.

Max Holzbaur

Associate Attorney

Max joined the Firm in May 2015 and has been a licensed attorney in Florida since 2013.  Prior to joining the Firm, Max practiced in Miami, concentrating in real estate transactions, corporate and business law, and business litigation.

Originally from Coral Springs, Max grew up in Fort Lauderdale and Sarasota. He earned both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees, cum laude honors, from Stetson University. Majoring in finance, international business, and political science, Max studied in Washington, D.C., China, and Austria. A full-merit scholarship recipient in both undergraduate and law school, he received his Juris Doctor, cum laude honors, in 2013 from Stetson University College of Law. In law school, he was recognized as Best Oralist in the Carlton Fields First-Year Appellate Advocacy Competition, and, as a member of the Moot Court Board, was a finalist in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in Vienna. Upon graduation, he was presented with the National Order of Scribes Award for excellence in legal writing and professionalism.

Applying his international education, Max worked at the Chambers of Arthur Marriott QC in London, specializing in international commercial arbitration. Max is multilingual, speaking both English and German. He holds dual citizenship with Austria.

Max currently practices in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, including real estate acquisitions and sales, commercial leasing, title insurance, lending and Small Business Administration 7(A) and 504 financing.  His practice also includes business and corporate law.  He is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar Association, and resides in Delray Beach.  His passion is soccer and he’s an avid fan of the Chelsea F.C. Lions.

Matthew Greenberg

Associate Attorney (Orlando, Florida Office)

Matt joined the Firm in September, 2016, opening Fogel Law Group’s Orlando office, and has been a licensed attorney in Florida since 2012. Prior to joining the Firm, Matt practiced in Orlando, originally as a defense litigator focusing on insurance defense matters including first and third party property and automobile cases, as well as commercial litigation, and later as General Counsel for a nationwide commercial lender specializing in SBA 504 loans.

Originally from Miami, Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree, with cum laude honors, from the University of Florida in 2009, and he received his Juris Doctor in 2012 from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri.  While in law school, Matt studied international business law in Shanghai, China at the Fudan University Law School.

Matt currently practices in the area of commercial real estate, including acquisition and sales, commercial leasing, title insurance, lender representation, and Small Business Administration 504 and 7(a) financing. His practice areas also include corporate and business law.  Matt resides in Orlando, and is an ardent and devoted Florida Gators, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat fan.
